"Working with Mya has been a great experience; she is a phenomenal artiste and also a great person so I'm definitely honoured to be a part of the project. Since the release of her reggae single, Brand New Page last week, dancehall artiste Spice says she is pleased with the response the track has garnered thus far.
The reggae song which was produced by Blaqk Sheep Music on the Tropical Connection Riddim was the perfect way to start the year, Spice says. "I chose to release it in January because that's always the time most persons are determined to stay true to their new year resolutions and improve on things in their lives. That's what Brand New Page is about - getting rid of things that shouldn't be in your life and making a fresh start."
"So far the response has been great, I can't complain. The roots reggae stations and their listeners have been loving that song and before promoting my next single, Take Him Out alongside Mya, this will be the track that my team will be promoting both here and in Europe," says Spice.
The creative artiste is also up for a number of nominations at this year's Youth View Awards, scheduled to take place on February 4 at the National Indoor Sports Centre. The nominations include: Young, Hot and Hype Female Artiste of The Year, Fashion Icon Female, Favourite Local Female Artiste and Favourite Dancehall Artiste Female.

According to up and coming producer / recording artist Que who's the brainchild behind the riddim, the project was gear at bringing new talent to the scene. "They are so many talented people in Jamaica but a lot of them are not getting recognized and are not in a position to get a solid production to actually showcase what they can do and what they have to offer to "The business" so i figure i will start picking them out and giving them a chance".
While many would admit the heart of Dancehall and Reggae music resides in Kingston the capital city of Jamaica, Que believes the talent of Jamaicans are spread right across all parishes. "They always say Kingston is the only place you can get a buss if you serious about music but we have good talent in Mobay and we are doing the same and at times better standard production so somebody has to represent and good talent speaks for itself so i am hoping Jamaica and the world listen and receive it". by: Solid Agency |
| | | The Management of Dancehall heavyweight Bounty Killer is making it public that the artist is being falsely advertised for several shows in Europe next month.
In a statement from Killer's Management & Booking company Solid Agency, no contract is in place for the February dates. "It has come to our attention that Bounty Killer is being advertised via a popular reggae website for a total of four shows in Europe between February 23rd - 26th. While it is not fully clear who is behind the mystery bookings Solid Agency is categorically announcing Bounty will not perform on any of the shows. "We would like to ask the organizers of these concerts to refrain from listing Bounty as part of their lineups as only Solid Agency is authorized to negotiate show engagements on behalf of Rodney "Bounty Killer" Price".
European fans of Bounty can rest easy as Solid Agency alongside Yarid of Uppsala Music Festival are already formulating an April tour for the deejay. by: Solid Agency |
| | | Dancehall artiste Spice is singing a new tune for 2012 in more ways than one. The dancehall diva who is usually known for her catchy dancehall rhymes, she has flipped the script and released the reggae single, Brand New Page as her first track for the year.
The reggae song which speaks from the point of view of someone who wishes to turn his life around, undoubtedly showcases Spice's vocal ability. Spice spoke in reference to the single which was produced by Blaqk Sheep Music on the Tropical Connection Riddim, "The song is basically talking about wrong-doers who want to make a big change in their lives and I specifically wrote it a first person narrative point of view, so that people can actually sing it as if it were their own story."
Spice who is known for her hit singles, Ramping Shop with Vybz Kartel, Slim Versus Fluffy, Jim Screechie, Hot Patty Wine and others, says she has not made a permanent switch to reggae and singing, but "music is art and art is about self-expression, and I always like to explore new and creative beats and genres to express myself. That way it remains fun and you don't become predictable."
Since persons can't predict what the spicy one may do next, she says, "The next single I can definitely tell persons to look out for which will be released at the end of this month is the hip hop track, Take Him Out alongside international singer, Mya. It's also the single which we performed together at last year's Reggae Sumfest shortly after it was recorded. It is also the debut single from her new album, which came out last month, while the video will also be out at the end of this month. So there are a lot of things in store, some of which are international, but I'm not yet in a position to divulge too many details. Just watch out for 2012." by: Blue Print Publicity |

| | | Words of love, life, laughter, prosperity are on many Jamaican lips for this year. Even though 2012 is predicted by many people as an inexplicable year, mood of happiness, pursuit and great expectations fill the lives of fellow Jamaicans. Incredible amusing plans from all different angles encompass citizens thoughts; empowering them to seek a brighter future.
Inclusive of these plans is “The Shaggy and Friends in Concert” in which charitable Jamaicans want to save a child’s life. Yes, ‘the caring continues’ on the lawns of Jamaica House on the 7th of January. “I dare you” to support the worthy cost as all proceeds will be in aid of the Bustamante Hospital for Children. Another love like plan is for unity. It is certainty that many dancehall, reggae entertainers will tie up their beefs and resolve certain altercations that they have. Dancehall artistes Bounty Killer and Movado have started the New Year on a positive note by settling their difference.
I am certain that as the year progresses, female dancehall artistes Timberlee and Tifa will also settle their differences. Since last week the rumor mill has been in full swing of an alleged beef between Tifa and Timberlee. For a while the rumors have been circulating but became more so last week when Timberlee was not on hand at Tifa premiere of her new video Nah Stop Shine/ Move Your Body.
Remember, love and prosperity ‘we seh fi 2012 and datz up!’
Whether you go to church and be entertained by gospel events like Genesis 2012 or you party like a rock star and fulfil yourself at other occasions, keep in mind that you live your life with love and happiness.

| | | Denyque is closing 2011 on a high note. That's the word from the fast-rising singer's camp. Nicknamed 'Supergirl', Denyque has a busy Christmas season of appearances and performances, in addition to releasing lots of new material.
"I've been in studio a lot and making a lot of great music and working with some great producers like Cashflow Records and Stephen McGreggor," the singer said, continuing that her single with Cashflow was just released.
Recorded on the Faithful Riddim, Denyque steps away from the usual dancehall/pop vibe of her music and gets steeped in an emotional reggae-flavoured track called Love Hurts.
The song speaks to the hardships of love, and Denyque says that heads are already knocking to produce a video for the song.
"I love working with Cashflow, and we're looking at doing a video. We have amazing chemistry in and out of the studio and I admire the work ethic these guys have," Denyque said about the recording outfit.
That's not the only studio surprise she has though. Having teamed up with Chino from the Big Ship camp earlier this year for the song Driving Me Insane, Denyque found herself in the Big Ship studio again -- this time recording for Stephen 'Di Genius' Mcgregor.
"The final touches to that song are being dealt with as we speak, and I'm really excited about it. It's called Make Me Believe You and this will be the first single I've recorded for the Big Ship Label, so you know it's going to be good!
The song, which even sees Denyque deejaying some lyrics, is set to be released in early 2011, along with her first mix tape, I AM SUPERGIRL.
2010 was a big year for Denyque, having been signed as a brand ambassador for telecommunications giant LIME, copping awards for Best New Artiste, making her debuts on the Reggae Sumfest stage, and stages in New York and Africa. As the year ends, Denyque has performances lined up across Jamaica and looks forward to ringing in the New Year with hard work. by: Brandon Allwood |

| | | A party with a difference, that's the word on the streets of Toronto, after the first staging of nickfotoworks.com "Privileged" . It was great to have the fans in a different environment out side of the banquets halls they regularly party and them to new heights. The party was staged in the heart of downtown Toronto in the most private and vintage setting possible.
That wasn't the only thing that made the event stand out, the patrons were treated to their first successful themed party and we did deliver. The Photo room SHOT!! Females dash weh every where, in Jacuzzi tubs; yes I said it Jacuzzi tub, shower stalls with exotic painting on the walls.
It was like a private photo shoot at times and the pics told the story. If you think we stopped there, we didn't. | | | Ace disc jock, Collin Hines, is eagerly anticipating his maiden voyage to the Middle East where he is scheduled to play at an exclusive 80’s party in Abu Dhabi, which is part of the United Arab Emirates(UAE).
Dubbed Nostalgia, the event is being marketed as “Abu Dhabi's first Exclusive 80's Dance Party. Relive the era when everything was bigger, louder and brighter.” The party will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on December 8 and will also feature the skills of another renowned Jamaican disc jockey, Delano of Renaissance Disco.
The conceptualiser of the event is Jamaican Mandi Bent, who has been working in Abu Dhabi for the past six years as Event Director at the Dome Exhibition Centre. She explained that there is a community of Caribbean and UK expatriates thirsty for this kind of entertainment, therefore the decision was made to fill their cup.
“We have had concerts with international artistes like Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Jimmy Cliff and Sean Paul, but this is the first time we are having a party of this kind in the UAE,” she stated, adding that Abu Dhabi is not the same place as Dubai, although both places are in close proximity.
Bent sees this as a milestone in shaping and diversifying the entertainment offering in the Emirates, adding that the response has definitely been encouraging. She noted that in planning the event she went after ‘A’ list disc jockeys who have a keen sense of “situation appropriate” and the knowledge base to respond musically to any given situation.
In their promotion and marketing efforts, the organizers have been using the social network options available, including placing an ad on youtube, voiced by The Captain Collin Hines. According to Mandi, in the next few weeks, all her systems will be in high gear as preparations are pumped up.
As for Hines, he has declared that the turn of events that have led to this posting is nothing short of “serendipitous”.
“It’s just amazing,” the popular disc jock stated. “A few years ago, I helped out a young artiste, who has now carved out quite a niche for himself in the business. This same artiste pinged me a few weeks ago about this event was being planned in Abu Dhabi. He said he had recommended me for the job … cool. So I got the numbers for the promoters, passed them on to D’Empire Management, and the rest is history,” Collin Hines stated, without any frills.
Quizzed about his strategy for this trail-blazing event, The Captain, who always has a whole lot to say, paused briefly.
“Actually, there’s no specific plan,” he confessed, seeming to edit his words as he spoke. “We are going to Abu Dhabi with an open mind and lots of music. The challenge will be for us to be as octopus as possible and have our musical tentacles out and ready. Musically, you have to think cosmopolitan, and since music is our forte, then that in itself will not be difficult,” Hines added.
He emphasized that his objective is to represent Jamaica so well that “we will return again and again”.
“We intend to entertain the crowd, enjoy ourselves in the process and just 'shell dung di place'. Mission accomplished … Abu Dhabi will come calling again,” Hines said with a huge smile. by: |
| | | Reggae and dancehall singjay, Chino, is already in preparation mode for yet another album.
The artiste who released is sophomore Japan album, Never Change, last summer and a self-entitled US debut album, Chino, in May of this year, has started working on another album which is scheduled for release in Japan early next year.
One of the earliest singles, he says, will be a remix of his hit single, Seal Di Link featuring Japanese female artiste, Akane. "She will be singing in Japanese, while I sing in English," says Chino.
The Driving Me Insane, Must Come Back and Ruff It Up singer is no stranger to imbibing his music with a Japanese flair - his previous Japanese album, Never Change, featured a Japanese version of his hit song, From Mawnin'. The single went on to become the number one downloaded/purchased track and ringtone on Japan's most established ringtone sites, Reggae Zion - a first for anyone outside of the Japan market. The song soon became the site's theme song - also a courtesy previously extended to only Japanese acts, while the album became one of Japan's overall best sellers that year.
Chino says his aim is to make the upcoming Japan album even more successful than its predecessors. "I always try to put everything into my music - from the lyrics, to the musical arrangement, just about everything. And I will be trying to outdo my previous albums both in concepts and sales; so apart from pushing music in the Jamaican, Caribbean and US markets, I am also now focusing on the Japan market."
It is therefore not surprising that Chino chose Seal Di Link as one of the first singles to work on and possibly release from the upcoming album. Seal Di Link which was released on his US album sold in excess of 150, 000 copies on iTunes during its first week. Also by extension, a few hours after Chino's Never Change album was released last year, it debuted at the number 7 spot on the Japan iTunes Top Reggae album chart and climbed to the second spot later that evening; thereby outranking Bob Marley's Legend album - quite the achievement. Marley's Legend had held the number one spot on all iTunes charts with the exception of Japan and Germany. by: Blue Print Publicity |
| | | Kingston, Jamaica - Love is in the air for Chino McGregor, but not in the way many may expect. The artiste will be releasing a slew of new singles in a few weeks, some of which will be ballads.
He says there has not been a permanent shift in his lyrics or style, instead, "I like exploring new genres, beats and topics and some of the songs that will be released shortly will be more singing than sing-jaying. There's even a combination with myself and Di Genius singing called So Do I for the ladies - that will be hitting the airwaves in a few days."
"…There's also the single, Desert Rose, which is out now with myself and an artiste out of Cayman by the name of Jeffery Wilson and the video will be released in a few days, so everyone can definitely look out for those and other singles coming in a few weeks," he says.
Chino is no stranger to style exploration. In May of this year Chino showcased his expansive knowledge of music when he released his debut US album, Chino, to rave reviews. The first two releases from the album, I Am (an upbeat club track with a French twist) and Seal Di Link, (a slow provocative reggae ballad) were complete departures from Chino's prior-style. Seal Di Link went on to top charts in the US and sold in excess of 150, 000 on iTunes during the first week of its release. Likewise, one of his most recent love ballads, Driving Me Insane featuring singer, Denyque, which was also featured on the album has been a hit among fans.
"Music is definitely one of the loves of my life, and as a result of that I'm always going to be focused on it and exploring new areas and genres in an effort to please the fans," he says.
Chino is also popularly known for his hits From Mawnin, Ruff It Up, Protected, Pon Yuh Head, Yeah Yeah (on the Peppa Riddim) and others. by: |

Kelia Love Charity is more than a Charity project and seeks to target children who are generally exploited from the realms of childhood and forced into adulthood prematurely. Kelia Love Charity Project strives to make a difference in these children’s lives and make a positive difference in these Communities.
What do you think the biggest challenges are in working with children and young people?
Some of the biggest challenges don't come from the young people themselves but from society’s labeling and stereotyping of them. Many of the young people we work with and support would fall under some of the most common stereotypes – as such Kelia Love Charity is able to effectively engage with these young people.
What do you feel has been your biggest achievement over the past year?
Kelia Love Charity Project’s positive impact on the lives of the 2010 beneficiaries from the Allman Town Community made a massive difference to them and the lives of the young people of the wider community. The support was overwhelming from the Community.
A very big thank you must go out to our very generous Corporate sponsors:-Nestle Ice- Cream, Nestle Fitness, Cari-Med Ltd., Tru- Juice , Island Grill, Reggae Jammin Frankfurters, Soft- Sheen- Carson, Eon & Robby, Kirk Distributors, Goodthyme Click, Island 62, Best Dressed, Village Blues Bar, CVM TV, Hype TV and The Jamaica Gleaner. We look forward to your continued support as we strive to make a difference in the lives of our less fortunate and vulnerable children. I would say this achievement was all of ours. The dream is to support young people and to enable them to have a voice and make positive contributions to Society and our nation as a whole. This I believe was a major achievement for us for the past year. by: |
